The
AGM of Down Syndrome Liverpool took place on Wednesday October 11th in The Bridge
Chapel, Garston.
Although there wasn't a
great turn-out on the night we had enough of our members there to ensure the meeting
was quorate. The major news from the AGM is that we now have 5 new Trustees for
D.S.L. which now makes up a total of 8 who are responsible for the organisation
of D.S.L. Particularly encouraging about this is the new Trustees now outnumber
the older hands who have been around for several years.
The
new Trustees are Thomas Regan, Vicky Regan, Louise O'Brien, Mathew Tully and Rena
Wright. They will now join John Hogan, Margaret Hogan and Anne Wilde as our Trustees
for the next twelve months.
Also at the AGM
Edna Pye from Parent Partnership outlined their work and how Liverpool Parent
Partnership could help and support both groups like D.S.L. and individual parents
seeking support with their child's educational choices. Edna's talk was warmly
received by those attending the meeting. The number of Parent Partnership, should
you feel the need to get in touch is - 0151 233 2848/2941. They are based in The
Fairfield Centre, Sheil Road, Liverpool L6 3AA.
It
should also be noted that the D.S.L. DVD, produced by Mathew Tully was shown,
at the AGM and went down very well the members attending. Mathew has worked very
hard to produce this resource and was given a big thank you by the members. There
only needs to be some minor changes and the DVD will form part of our new parent
packs and can also be used for publicity purposes.
Thanks to all our members
who attended on the night. |
